This project reimagines the Hermès silk scarf as a narrative-driven motion piece, translating mythological storytelling into a contemporary fashion and animation context. Inspired by the ancient Uruk myth of Enkidu and the divine courtesan, the animation explores themes of transformation, enlightenment, and the evolution of humanity through illustrated motion and layered visual storytelling.
The scarf is treated not merely as a finished object, but as a narrative surface. Each illustrated layer is designed and animated individually, allowing the story to unfold through movement, composition, and rhythm. The animation focuses on the pivotal moment of Enkidu’s transformation, using flowing transitions and spatial depth to echo the physical qualities of silk—folding, drifting, and revealing details gradually, much like the experience of handling a Hermès scarf.
Visually, the project draws from Mesopotamian and Sumerian art references, incorporating symbolic motifs, ornamental patterns, and a restrained yet expressive color palette. The motion language remains elegant and deliberate, emphasizing continuity and fluidity rather than spectacle. By combining detailed illustration with controlled camera movement and pacing, the animation bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary digital storytelling, positioning the Hermès scarf as both a fashion artifact and a medium for cultural narrative.
